DUE DATE!!!

So this week’s bump recap is my 39th week, which means my due date was officially yesterday, making baby girl late!! You know, its funny, when they told me June 29th was her due date it never really occurred to me that she might not come until after the 4th of July! But we have an induction date scheduled for July 7th, so if baby girl doesn’t make her appearance before then, we will have a 7/7 baby! But since she isn’t here, you get another recap!

Week 39 Bump Update|www.amusingmj.com

Baby’s Size: She’s now the size of a baby… ! Haha, in all seriousness, we have another sonogram to check her well being today, so we’ll know a little bit more, but she’s probably somewhere in the 7-8 pound range still, which feels like a good size.

Baby’s Progress: She’s moving quite a bit, and since she is so full in there you can see her movements pretty well, so that’s been kind of fun to watch!

Weight Gain: I’m holding steady right at the 25 lbs weight gain, and since I haven’t really gained much this week I think it’ll stay right in that range.

Sleep: Oh man, sleep.  I love sleep.  I’m trying to soak up every ounce of sleep I can before Baby Girl gets here, but of course I am 9 months pregnant, so it feels like sleep is a fleeting pleasure.  I definitely have to get up quite a bit to go to the bathroom, and she wakes me up kicking every now and then.  But without much to do before Baby Girl is born, I am going to sleep as early as I can.

Milestones: We passed our due date! And we will officially meet Baby girl in the next week, so that feels pretty huge! But other than that, we are just waiting… waiting and more waiting!

Favorite clothing item of the week: My swimsuit.  I mean don’t get me wrong, I don’t actually like the piece of clothing that is the swimsuit, but I do really love sitting in the pool.  And swimming makes my swollen feet feel so much better! I have gotten in our pool pretty much every day for the past week!

Symptoms: The swollen feet are my biggest symptom, we went to a movie on Saturday night and by the end of the movie my feet were swelling over my shoes! I took them off in the car and the look on my husbands face was pretty classic… you could see the lines where my straps were! That’s really my biggest symptom other than being exhausted and everything being harder to do.

Workout: I walked a few times and I’ve been swimming a bit, but no, workouts are definitely not happening until after I recover from Baby Girl’s birth.

There is not much else happening other than just waiting for her arrival.  I finished everything on my to do list for before Baby Girl is born, so I’ve been just crafting a few things which if I get a chance I’ll share with you this week!

Nursery Complete!

So it is officially down to the count for Baby Girl to arrive, with only 6 days until her due date!  This past weekend my mom and I finally put some of the finishing touches on the nursery and aside from putting a picture in an already hung picture frame and hanging the one last letter I have to hang, her nursery is DONE.  Totally finito and ready for her to come (although rumor is they don’t really spend much time in their nursery for the first little bit!).  But whenever she does, it will be ready for her!!  I’ve blogged about most of the projects as we’ve gone along, so mostly I’ll just show you the final product now!

It’s not a very large room, but it is so cozy and I love the way it turned out!! Here was my inspiration post, and where I was dreaming of the room going… and it turned out to be just like I wanted it to!!

Right when you walk in you see Baby Girl’s crib with her alphabet wall hanging above it, then her changing table with the Box Valance I made above it.  The alphabet wall is by far one of my favorite parts of the room (although it is hard to pick just one!!).  At my baby shower each of my friends were asked to bring a letter (coordinated by my best friend so there wouldn’t be duplicates!) to hang as an alphabet on Baby Girl’s nursery wall.  I LOVE how it turned out… and mostly I love how I can look at the wall and remember the people who gave me each letter and how much they love this little girl who isn’t even born yet! I love all the color it brings into the room and how eclectic it is… it reminds me of how diverse all my friends are and how lucky I am to have them in my life!

On the other side of the nursery is the dresser I repainted, my rocking chair with home-made cushions, and a little side table I snagged from Nebraska Furniture Mart, which is where a lot of the coral accent pieces came from as well.

My friend also made baby girl her own ruler to measure her height as she grows!! I love the way it turned out!

The room is full of fun details, and I love all of them! I can’t wait for her to feel at home in this space! One of the things I look forward to most is reading to her! My brother and sister-in-law gifted her a library full of great kids book in hard board book form so she can start reading at a really young age! And of course they look best in rainbow order! (Don’t worry I know this won’t last long!)

I’m so excited for her to arrive and to share all the cute details with her!

All right, I’ve linked to most of these in the text above, but just in case you want them all in one place, here’s the whole progress on the nursery:

And just for those of you who are curious about some of the sourcing:

  • rug: Dash and Albert
  • paint color: Light French Gray, Sherwin Williams
  • Light Fixture: Amazon
  • Changing Table: Amazon (we added a piece of furniture grade plywood to the top to make it wider)

Week 38 Bump Recap

Well y’all, I’m recapping week 38 which means I am officially one week away from due date! (Did you know… less than 5% of women give birth on their due date? Random factoid of the day!)  So while Baby Girl can come any day now, she has shown no signs of appearing, so I’m just going to keep on keeping on with my routine! But we did have a sonogram last week to check on her so I have lots of info for you this week!!

Week 38 bump update | www.amusingmj.com

Baby’s Size: She measured at the sonogram last week 7lbs 7 ounces, which is larger than I was expecting her to be.  Although the sonographer did say she tends to measure a little heavy, and a few friends have warned me that those weights aren’t exactly spot on… but still! That is definitely in the category I want to be in: no huge baby (not a shocker since the hubs and I are both pretty small people), but big enough to avoid some potential health problems from being too small!

Baby’s Progress: She is just cookin’ right along in there, gaining weight (and hopefully some chubby little legs).  My doctor didn’t think she would come this week… and so far she has been right.  Which since the husband just got back from his mission trip with the youth group he leads, I’m grateful that she waited until after that to make her appearance! Now we are just waiting for her to show up!

Weight Gain: I gained a couple of pounds this week, putting me right around the 25 lb weight gain total for this pregnancy.  Which they say is right in the normal category for someone my size and starting weight.  I will say… its a little crazy to look at the scale and see a number I’ve never seen before, and every time I step on at the doctor I give a little eek! Her scale is a couple lbs over mine (I obviously like mine better) so it always reads higher than mine does… not that I’m standing on mine much these days.

Sleep: Sleep is definitely harder these days, she is still hoarding in on my lung space when I lay down, so breathing is tricky.  I’ve gone back to using the pregnancy pillow to prop me up a bit so I can breathe.  And Lexie is banished to her crate at night since she can’t seem to resist eating clothing items, and she doesn’t love being in there, so she occasionally barks or whimpers to be let out.  Who knew I would be re-crate training a 4 year old dog in the last weeks of pregnancy!?

Milestones: We had our first sonogram since she was 20 weeks old, which was pretty exciting! My mom went with me since she was in town and the husband wasn’t (don’t worry… we sent him a video).  And it was crazy how different the sonos were! When she is 20 weeks you can see most of her on the screen all at the same time, but now you can just see her head, or an elbow, or small body parts at one time since she is taking up so much room in my stomach! But it was very reassuring to see her and double check her heart beat and size and gender (yes she is for sure a girl!).  We also found out she (theoretically) has a lot of hair… you could see it around her head on the sonogram.  I’m still hoping she’ll be a little blonde like Reese and I were as kids… so we will see!

Favorite clothing item of the week: Hmmm… I feel like I’m wearing the same jeans and t-shirts every day since that is what is most comfortable, but I did dress up in tights and a tunic last night that looked pretty cute… so we will go with that.  I think more creative dressers are better at the pregnancy wardrobe, but I’ve always been a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl, so its hard to move away from that when all I want is comfort these days!

Symptoms: My feet and hands are definitely swelling still, but not SO bad.  Mostly my feet hurt when I get up in the morning because they are swollen and tender.  And its a good thing it is summer because flip flops are by far the most comfortable shoes to wear.  I still have some pretty crazy heartburn, and EVERYTHING is more uncomfortable by now, but I can’t complain too much… most of the time I feel great, just a little more tired than I normally am!

Workout: NOPE! I have gotten in the pool a few times because it feels amazing right now, but I’m not doing much of the lap swimming.  And walking isn’t very comfortable.  Plus a whole bunch of people told me long walks were a great way to induce labor and I was trying all week to NOT induce labor while Reese was out of town. So I mostly relaxed and took it easy around the house!

Mom and Dad were in town this last week and it was great to have the company while Reese was gone.  Plus mom spent the weekend working on my backyard and it has never looked better!! I wasn’t much help, but she did an awesome job and it will be nice to enjoy throughout the rest of the summer not worrying about the weeding or mulching that needed to happen!!

I’ll let you know when baby girl makes her appearance into the world! I made a cute onesie in case she is here before the 4th of July… so that’s what I’m hoping for!
